Betty Jane McCloy, 82, of Pennsboro, WV, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 12, 2021, her journey to heaven was peaceful just as she wanted and prayed upon.

Betty was born October 15, 1938 in Ritchie County, WV, a daughter of the late Therman Dennis Sr. and Stella Mae (Hickman) McCullough.

Betty worked at the local garment factories for many years. She attended Wince Chapel United Methodist Church in Ellenboro, WV and the Church of God in Pennsboro, WV. Betty was full of love to all. She loved her family unconditionally. Betty enjoyed watching her grandkids grow up, playing outside, and could always get them to come over by making her famous CoCo Wheats. As her grandkids grew up and they began to give her great grandkids, she then had the enjoyment of watching them play outside, dance, sing, and laugh. If the family felt the grandkids were being too rough or loud she would say, “just let them play, let them be kids.”

Betty would always just sit, watch, listen, and take things in. Even when you didn’t think she was watching or listening, she would later let us know, sometimes years later, reminiscing.

Betty had a long battle with cancer on and off since 2009. Not once did she ever complain nor, did she speak of it. Her Faith in God was her Strength. She was an incredibly strong woman, but raising 7 kids surely had a part of her strength, her patience, and leaving her fearless. She will be strongly missed by many but, her memories we shall always cherish.

Betty is survived by her children, Pamela Griffith (Larry), Brenda Haddox, Tammy Williams, Eddie McCloy, and Karla Masters (Rodney); grandchildren, Tara Shiflet (Jason), Tiffany Griffith (Olivia Roberts), Tasha McAfee (Derek), Kalani Williams, Kiana Williams, Cody Masters (MyKayla), Roderick Masters (Jodi), Payton Masters, John Bosley III (Ashley), and Tessa Stull (Chris); 16 great grandchildren; 6 brothers; 3 sisters; and son in laws, Nelson Broughman and Johnny Bosley.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, John E. McCloy; daughters, Judy Bosley and Sandra Broughman; grandchild, Christopher McCloy; and brothers, Michael McCullough and Robert McCullough.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at McCullough Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Roger Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Pullman Cemetery in Pullman, WV. Visitation will take place 4pm-8pm on Monday, at the funeral home.
