Obituary: Sundstrom, Michael Joseph “Mike”
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Michael Joseph “Mike” Sundstrom, 76, of Parkersburg, died peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Marietta, OH to the late Herman and Betty Nester Sundstrom.
He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and worked at Kardex in Marietta. He served in the United States Army Vietnam, the Army National Guard #1092 as a medic, a member of the American Legion Post #15 for 31 years, American Legion Color Guard for 20 years, and was their Chaplain for 10 years. He was a member of the 40 & 8 Voiture #170 for 27 years. He enjoyed playing on the computer, a Steelers football fan, and loved playing tunes on his autoharp. He loved his dog Minnie and cat Cry Baby.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Nancy L. Sundstrom, Brother: Rex Q. Sundstrom, 3 Sons: Michael (Lisa) Sundstrom, Thomas (Summer) Sundstrom, Ron (Juanita) Shears, 7 Daughters: April (Kevin) Allen, Julie Sundstrom, Lori (Greg) Perry, Brandee (TJ) Workman, Rhonda Shears, Sandra Shears, & Judy Trujillo Grandchildren: Alex McCauley, Alden Allen, Audrey and Lily Sundstrom, Aries Sundstrom, Lincoln & Willow Perry, Dustin, Christopher, Benjermin, Kayla, Taylor, & Khloie Shears, Jacob, Ronnie, Rebecca, Jessie, & Samuel Trujillo, Kaycee Fernandez, Sammie, Alexander, & Aaryon Ryleigh Shears, Raven, Ethan, and Emma Shears, and he was blessed by numerous Great Grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother Clarence H. Sundstrom, a son Joseph E. Batten, an infant daughter Casey A. Sundstrom and daughter Evelyn M. Fernandez, his fur babies: one dog Sophie and one cat Mr. Magoo.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Michael J. Sundstrom to Amedisys Hospice of Parkersburg. (Special thanks to Amanda & Katelynn).
A private cremation will take place at Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
