BEVERLY, Ohio. (WTAP) - Graham Baker is a senior football player for the Fort Frye Cadets. Graham knows what it means to be a student athlete and he puts in the work both in the classroom and on the field.

“Definition would probably be someone who likes to work hard both on and off the field and in the classroom. Someone who wants to keep their grades up and make sure they excel on the field,” said Baker. “I do my best to be the best student athlete I can be by staying up late, studying, and putting in the extra hours after practice. And then in the classroom, being as attentive as I can.”

Graham is able to balance his workload between schoolwork and football by getting his work done during the day in classes or free periods before he practices after school. He says his teachers and his family have helped him along the way.

“Most of my teachers. They’re very helpful, they understand that I play sports and I’m an athlete. I have a lot of workload. They help me get through it,” Baker said. “They’re very good at explaining things and making sure they’re giving me time to get stuff done. And then my family is great at it. I’ve had two sisters that were student athletes and they’ve helped me tremendously throughout this.”

Graham has been an important piece to a Fort Frye team that finished the regular season at 8-2 with the postseason beginning on Friday. He has big goals for both himself and his team before the end of the season.

“My personal goal is just be the best player I can be on the field, help my teammates out in any way possible,” says Baker. “And I think our team goal is we want to go win that regional title and make sure we have a long playoff run.”

Graham isn’t sure where he wants to go to college yet, but he wants to study exercise science.
