UPDATE: Lowell man dies after car hits house

UPDATE: 3/18/19 3:30 P.M.

A Washington County man was killed Monday morning when he lost control of his car on State Route 339 and hit a house, authorities said.

David F. Davis, 49, of Lowell, was driving south in a 2009 Subaru Forester that went off the ride side of the road and hit the house, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 10:15 a.m. in Watertown Township about 4 mile south of Beverly, the Patrol said. No one was in the home at the time.

First responders from Watertown and Beverly responded to the scene, along with the Highway Patrol and the Washington County sheriff's office.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A Highway Patrol dispatcher said there was a fire that has been extinguished. It's unclear whether there were any other injuries.
