LOWELL, Ohio (WTAP) - A group of hunters were on a deer drive on Saturday when a 16-year-old boy was accidentally shot, Washington County authorities said.
The boy was flown to a Columbus hospital as a precaution, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said, adding that he was shot in the leg and hip area. He was alert as he was being being flown to the hospital, deputies said.
The shooting happened near Lowell, but no other details have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
Deputy Kevin Carr said the shooting is an important lesson in hunter safety.
*Make sure you wear all the orange clothing so that you're visible to the other hunters," he said. "*Most importantly, if you don't see what you're shooting at, then don't shoot.
