An 18-wheeler caught on fire on I-77 South shortly after midnight.

The truck was located near mile marker 183, a couple of miles south of the Williamstown exit.

According to the wood county 9-1-1 dispatcher, the call went out to authorities at 12:33 a.m. Friday. The dispatcher added that while the truck was reported as being inflamed at the time of the call, it was not completely engulfed.

The accident caused a complete shutdown of the southbound lane at the scene, causing a significant traffic backup.

Waverly and Williamstown Volunteer Fire Departments, St. Joe's ambulance, the Wood County Sheriff's office, and Williamstown police, were all on the scene. No injuries were reported, and we will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.
