Morgan County authorities have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a June 26 shooting incident in the community of Pennsville.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Maleik Hanning of Pennsville on Friday after executing a search warrant at 1355 Washington Street in Pennsville. Authorities did not say what charges he is facing.
In a news release, Sheriff Douglas McGrath said the shooting appears to have stemmed from a robbery involving drugs and money. He said deputies confiscated a small amount of drugs and other drug paraphernalia during a search of the residence.
Two people were taken into custody on June 26 after a person with a gunshot wound walked into the Genesis Police Department after being dropped off in a car matching the description of one reported at the shooting scene. They have not been identified.
Authorities also have not identified the victim or released information about the person's condition.
Two people were taken into custody in Zanesville late Wednesday afternoon following a reported shooting in Morgan County.
Morgan County sheriff’s deputies were called to the community of Pennsville about 4:10 p.m. after getting a report that someone might have been shot.
Sheriff Douglas McGrath said in a new release that all of the people involved had left the area by the time the time deputies arrived, but about an hour later, someone with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the Genesis Police Department in Zanesville in a car that matched the description of one from the shooting scene.
Zanesville Police located the vehicle a short time later and arrested one person. Another person fled but was quickly apprehended.
The names of the victim and the suspects have not been released.
Pennsville is located in Penn Township, about five mile southwest of McConnelsville.
The incident remains under investigation.
