2 injured in logging-truck crash on Staunton Turnpike

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - The driver and passenger of a logging truck were taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after the truck crashed and lost its load on Staunton Turnpike.

The crash on Route 47 between Meadville Road and Kelly Hill Road happened about 12:30 p.m.

The victims, Jeffrey Eddy, 56, of Parkersburg, and James Vance II, 47, of Mineral Wells, were taken by ambulance to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.

The truck, owned by T-AJ Trucking of Cairo, was traveling toward Parkersburg when Eddy lost control. The truck flipped at least once before landing on its wheels off the left side of the highway.

The road was closed for a short time while the West Virginia Division of Highways used a grader to push the logs away from the road.

The East Wood Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
