UPDATE: Lowell man killed in head-on crash in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE: 2/14/19 10 A.M.

One man was killed and two people injured in a head-on collision in Washington County late Wednesday afternoon.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Dale G. Mincks, 53, was pronounced dead at Marietta Memorial Hospital after the crash on Route 60 in Adams Township.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m., and the road was closed for several hours.

Alicia M. Fogle, 29, of Marietta, and a passenger in her 2013 Ford Edge were taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital. The were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said. Troopers also said a child in
Fogle's was in a safety seat and was not injured.

Troopers said their preliminary investigation indicates that Mincks’ 2000 Buick Century went left of center while headed south on Route 60 and collided head-on with Fogle’s vehicle.

Troopers said alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Marietta Post of the Highway Patrol. Mincks was not wearing a safety belt.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded along with units from the Beverly-Waterford and Lowell-Adams volunteer fire departments and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

He was a 53-year-old man from Lowell, Ohio. Troopers say he died at Marietta Memorial Hospital after being transported for his injuries.

The investigation shows that the 2000 Buick Century he was driving went left of center while he was driving on State Route 60 in Adams Township.

He then collided head-on with a 2013 Ford Edge. The Ford was driven by a woman named Alicia Fogle. She's a 29-year-old woman from Marietta, Ohio.

They were both taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead there.

Troopers say he was not wearing a safety belt when the crash happened.

The patrol says the road reopened at about 10:00 p.m. Wednesday. The patrol says it is writing a media release with more details.

Authorities are detouring traffic around the accident. It is unclear if it remains blocked off at this time.

The Lowell and Beverly Volunteer Fire Departments were assisting troopers on scene.
