CLEVELAND, Ohio (NBC) - UPDATE: 05/26/19

Days after 22-year-old Taylor Ceepo collapsed and died while competing in the Cleveland Marathon, her memory was honored by more than one thousand runners during another race Saturday.

Participants in the Medina Half Marathon and 5K wore maroon and green ribbons in honor of Ceepo, who was from Medina.

A moment of silence was held before the 13.1 mile run.

Ceepo collapsed within a quarter-mile of the half marathon race. She was transported to University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

A preliminary investigation by the Cuyahoga Medical Examiner's Office showed no definitive cause of death.

A heartbreaking end to the Cleveland Marathon after a 22-year-old runner collapsed less than a mile from the finish line.

Taylor Ceepo was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A school official from Walsh University says Ceepo had graduated just a few weeks ago.

It's unclear if heat played a role in her death but temperatures were above average for this time of year.

A race spokesperson says this makes the second death in the marathon's 42 year history.

The university and race director both said in statements they were deeply saddened and send sympathies to Ceepo's friends and family.
