BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) - Three people were taken to the hospital late Wednesday morning after a Wood County Senior Citizens Association van and a car collide at one of Belpre's most-dangerous intersections.
It happened about 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Route 7 and Farson Street.
Belpre police said both drivers and a passenger in the van were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Information on their injuries was not immediately available.
Witnesses told police the van was attempting to turn south onto Farson Street from Route 7 when the vehicles collided in the intersection. The car was headed east on Route 7.
Belpre Police Chief Terry Williams said there's a history of serious accidents at the intersection.
"As you can see, we've got no-turn-on-reds here because of all the accidents,” he said. “This is the most dangerous intersection we have for fatals, and, so this is one you have to watch out for. Be aware of the lights if you're turning, make sure you don't cut in front of somebody. Just make sure the roadway is clear."
The crash remains under investigation by Belpre Police.
