HAZELTON, W.Va. (WDTV) - An inmate allegedly assaulted four workers at the USP Hazelton in Preston County on Friday morning.
According to Richard Heldreth, president of local 420 of the American Federation of Government Employees, the workers suffered minor injuries. He said the prison has been placed on lockdown for the weekend.
The inmate hasn't been identified.
Heldreth said it's likely the situation could have ended quicker with more staff members working at the prison.
There were three murders at the prison in 2018. This is the first known incident of 2019.
