UPDATE: Hocking County man killed in I-77 crash Monday morning

A Hocking County man has been identified as the victim of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in Jackson County.

Deighton Stump, 37, of Rockbridge, Ohio, was killed when his flatbed truck went through a guardrail and overturned in a steep ravine, the Jackson County sheriff's office said.

The crash happened about 7 a.m. Monday about a mile north of Ripley.

Authorities said they aren't sure what caused Stump to lose control of the truck.

Southbound Interstate 77 in Jackson County has re-opened after a fatal crash Monday morning, authorities said.

According to the Jackson County 911 center, one person died after a dump truck was involved in a rollover crash about 7 a.m.

The crash north of Ripley caused a major traffic backup for motorists traveling south, but the 911 center said shortly before noon on Monday that that the accident scene had been cleared and the highway re-opened.
