PARKERSBURG W.Va. (WTAP) - Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law, held their annual Veteran's Appreciation spaghetti dinner on Thursday night at the Knights of Columbus.

It began in 2012 as just a backyard cookout, but has since evolved into an organized spaghetti dinner that is free to all veterans.

Dozens of veterans young and old came to celebrate with their families, and enjoy a peaceful night of food, music, and prizes.

Jan Dils, who helped organize the event, described how the dinner has evolved over time, and her favorite parts about sharing this night with the community veterans.

"Over time, this has grown. And it's increased in size. And I get to see the veterans year after year," said Dils. "The same veterans come, and I get to talk with them and enjoy their stories and see how they did for the past year. So, I enjoy that very much."

The money donated will be fund-raised to continue to improve "Operation Transportation" which helps veterans by providing them with free bus passes.
