PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Police say there have been at least 8 overdoses in Parkersburg in the last week, including one fatality.

Officials say that the overdoses are mainly caused by Fentanyl, which is often added to other drugs, such as marijuana and methamphetamine.
The Parkersburg police have responded by executing several search warrants.

Detectives made seven arrests stemming from three searches and the narcotics task force made an additional two arrests based off of a single search warrant.

Police Chief Joe Martin says the community can help clean up the streets by leaving them an anonymous tip.

“The other folks who live in neighborhoods with suspected drug activity going on, just let us know through the tip line, parkersburgpolice.com, submit that anonymous tip, we will follow up on that tip,” said Martin.

Chief Martin also says that if you find someone who has overdosed, do not touch or move anything around them, as doing so could make it harder for police to investigate.
