UPDATE: Athens police ID man who died in fall from parking garage

Authorities have identified a man who died in a fall from a parking garage in Athens on Friday.

Evan Key, 36, of Athens, was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders found his body on College Street near the parking structure about 5 p.m. Friday.

Police said Key apparently fell from the to of the parking structure but said there there's nothing to suggest that foul play was involved.

His death remains under investigation.


Athens Police say a 36-year-old man fell from a parking garage to his death Friday evening.

Athens Police Department officers and Athens County EMS personnel responded to a report of an unconscious, unresponsive male on College Street near the parking garage at 4:52 p.m.

The Athens County Coroner responded and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial indications are that he fell from the top of the parking garage.

Members of the APD Criminal Investigations Unit are conducting an investigation. His name is being withheld at this time so his family can be notified.
