UPDATE: Pleasants County man killed in Ritchie County shooting

PENNSBORO, W.Va. (WDTV) - UPDATE: 7/9/19

A Pleasants County man died Tuesday morning after he was shot inside his car in the parking lot of a business in Ritchie County, authorities said.

Brian M. Cronin, 59, died in the shooting outside the Ace Home Store, located at 91 Mountaineer Dr. The store is located just off Route 50 between Pennsboro and Ellenboro.

In a news release, Sheriff Terry Snodgrass said Cronin had been involved in a longstanding dispute with Johnny Gregg, 66, also of St. Marys.

Snodgrass said Cronin was shot about 10 a.m. after he confronted Gregg in the business' parking lot.

No arrests have been made, and Snodgrass said Gregg has co-operated with authorities. No one else was involved in the shooting, Snodgrass said.

Cronin's body was taken to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner's Office in Charleston.

The sheriff's office continues to investigate the shooting, along with the West Virginia State Police and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Police.

One person is reported dead after a shooting in Ritchie County Tuesday morning.

According to the Ritchie County 911 center, someone called at 10:18 a.m. about a shooting at the Ace Home Center store located at 91 Mountaineer Dr., in Pennsboro.

Law-enforcement officers remain at the scene.
