Baker and Baker hosting annual Diamond Drop contest
MARIETTA, W.Va (WTAP): It's that time of the year again!
Baker and Baker is hosting their annual Diamond Drop contest.
At about noon Monday, the ice sculpture, with a red marble embedded in it, was set up in the jewelry store.
From Monday until closing time Wednesday, shoppers are encouraged to stop by the store and guess what time the marble will fall from the melting ice.
Whoever guesses closest to the day, hour, minute, and second that the marble drops, wins a $6,000 diamond!
"People are going, 'Ok. What's the room temperature? How thick is the ice?' And they try and use the scientific method which is all well and good. But it's a lot of fun," said Larry Hall, owner of Baker and Baker. "We had one lady that was in today and she said, 'How many entries can I do?' And I said, 'As many as you want.' And she's like, 'Oh, this is going to be really fun!'"
