BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) - Lauren Keeling is in her first year as principal at Belpre Elementary School.
She says, for the new year and the second half of the school year, she wants to continue improving the programs like the stem lab which allows children who are interested in science and the arts to explore.
Principal Keeling says, her main goal is to continue creating opportunities for children to grow and expand what they know and turn it into something amazing.
She also wants to make sure that children are happy to be in school and put that "wonder" back into academics. Keeling says, teachers want children to think about what they are learning and figure out different ways to apply that to the world around them.
"There's a lot of social and emotional learning that we're doing so we're trying to set some big goals to help those children," said Keeling.
Belpre Elementary has almost 600 students.
