Sometime in 2020, a lot west of Farson Street in Belpre will be the site of a new 70-bed nursing home.

Mayor Mike Lorentz said on Monday that Foundations Health Solutions will be building the new 50,000-square-foot building. The new facility will employ 50 people, in addition to the jobs brought in by construction workers.

Lorentz thinks the home's closeness to health-care facilities is a major factor in the company's decision to build there.

"I think this all stems from the hospital facility," the mayor said, referring to the presence of both WVU Hospital Camden Clark and Memorial Health System in Belpre. "It's still growing, and this seems to be where small business wants to be. We'll do everything in our power to make sure it's as seamless and effortless on their part as we can make it."

Mayor Lorentz said he learned of the company's plans in September.

A formal announcement was made at Monday night's Belpre City Council meeting.
