COLUMBUS, Ohio (CNN) - During a stop in Ohio, Democratic Presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden accused President Donald Trump's administration of endangering the LGBTQ community.
In a speech to the human rights campaign yesterday on the first day of pride month, Biden described the difficulties still faced by many transgender people, including transphobic violence, which he claims is enabled by the Trump administration.
"We've already had five, just this year, we've already had five black transgender women killed violently in 2019. It's outrageous. It must, it must, it must end. And the fastest way to end it is end the Trump administration,” Biden said.
Biden argued the Trump administration was at odds with the notion of America, as a beacon of decency and stood "on the wrong side of history."
He also went after Trump's immigration policies and vice president mike pence's stance on LGBTQ issues as "wrong" and "immoral."
The president expressed support for the LGBTQ community in a tweet Friday.
