VIENNA, W.Va. (WTAP) - Black Friday wraps up the end of our week, but shoppers in the Mid-Ohio Valley don’t have to wait until Friday to get door-buster deals.
Like many other shopping centers and big box retailers, the Grand Central Mall will be open Thanksgiving evening starting at 6 p.m. through Black Friday at 10 p.m., a whole 28 hours.
Jody Hopkins, the mall’s General Manager, says as far as he’s aware the mall has never had a violent incident during Black Friday events, but during his tenure in other businesses, Black Friday could be dramatic.
He says since Black Friday has been spread into Thursday evening, it’s become a more family oriented event.
“You get a lot of families coming out, it’s an event on Thursday evening, and then maybe Friday morning isn’t quite as busy, people sleep in. Then as Friday goes on it gets busy again. It’s just spreading it out further,” said Hopkins.
“Luckily, everything is better organized, so you don’t have the craziness of busting down doors,” said Mindy Fluharty, Grand Central Mall’s marketing director.
