MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - The library isn't just the place for reading this summer but also for community events for all ages.
Belpre and Barlow branches of the Washington County Public Library are hosting sous chef battles Wednesday.
The events will feature two chefs competing against one another with audience members getting to participate and serve as judges.
Belpre's branch manager says this fits in perfectly with the library's mission of exposing people to life lessons and skills.
"One of the other managers had been going through looking through different events and thought it sounded like great fun," Belpre branch manager Tamsen Wamer said, "like cutthroat kitchen, so that's what we got going. The two chefs will come in and cook in our meeting room."
Wamer says the event is all sold out and if it's successful, she hopes to host it again.
Barlow's chef battle starts at 11 a.m. and Belpre's kicks off at 2:00 p.m.
