City pools close as summer comes to an end
It's been another busy summer for the local pools, but it's finally time to close down for the season as kids head back to school.
This year, all local pools are scheduled to close before Labor Day.
Parkersburg pool shut down on Saturday, and today, Williamstown and Vienna pools are closing their doors as well.
Mike Bishman, pool manager of the Vienna and Williamstown pools, says this season has been extra busy due to the heat, but another successful one in keeping down incidents.
"I think we've had a great season. It's been one of the warmer seasons that we've had in a few years," Bishman said. "The numbers should be great and we are hoping to see how everything turns out here at the end after everything is turned in. Safety is our number one concern, we try to keep it at a minimum. I feel it's been a great year as it comes to keeping incidents down."
If you're looking to get one last swim in, you still have a chance. Belpre's pool is scheduled to close on Saturday, and Marietta's aquatic center closes on the 21st.
