HARRISVILLE, W. Va. (WTAP) - The community showed up to celebrate first responders in Ritchie County.
A concert was held in Harrisville including several acts all in order to honor and thank First responders in the area.
Members of local fire and law departments, as well as paramedics all, showed up to the event on Friday evening.
Event organizer Bill Dawson talked about the event and what it means for the community.
“We remembered first responders from 9/11/01 and then from there we began to think about how many of those first responders felt appreciated for the service they gave and we wanted to not only remember the 9/11 first responders but we wanted to thank our first responders of West Virginia for the dedication and service they give our community.”
The event coincided with Heroes Day which is held in West Virginia every year on the second Saturday of September.
