UPDATE: Woman arrested for reportedly calling in bomb threat

BELPRE, Ohio (WTAP) - UPDATE 7/2/2019 7:10 P.M.

Belpre Police say they've arrested the person they believe is responsible for calling in a bomb threat at Boxers Bed and Biscuits Saturday.

Officers arrested Gayle Dotson. She's a 49-year-old woman from Parkersburg. Police say she reportedly made the call while she was working because she was upset with her employer.

She is charged with making false alarms. She's in the Washington County Jail.


UPDATE: 6/29/19 6:00 P.M.

Belpre Police say that, after searching the facility, nothing was found at Boxers Bed and Biscuits after a bomb threat was made on Saturday afternoon.

The business called police after receiving a call that said there was a bomb in their facility and were quickly evacuated. Authorities called in a bomb dog from Ohio University to search the building.

Police say the incident is under investigation.

Belpre Police, Belpre fire, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Ohio University Police, and EMS reported to the scene.

6/29/19 4:00 P.M.

Belpre Police Chief Terry Williams has confirmed that a bomb threat was made to Boxers Bed and Biscuits around 2:00 p.m on Saturday afternoon.

Police say a call came into the business and the person on the phone said there was a bomb in their business and hung up.

Belpre fire and police responded to the scene and Washington Boulevard was shut down.

A bomb dog from Ohio University was called to the scene.

Police say that they are treating the threat as legitimate and are taking all necessary precautions to keep people and animals in the area safe.
