Crash kills 4 on I-77 in southern W.Va.

CAMP CREEK, W.Va. Four people are dead following a car accident Thursday on Interstate 77 near Camp Creek.

The call was reported around 5:30 p.m.

According to the Mercer County Office of Emergency Management, a tractor-trailer loaded with canned goods was driving south on the interstate around the 22-mile marker when the driver lost control, crossed the median and struck a passenger vehicle.

The truck rolled over and caught on fire.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to a hospital.

Southbound traffic was stopped so a medical helicopter could land.

Information about the victims has not been released.
