Van driver hurt in Interstate 77 rollover crash near Williamstown

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WTAP) - Update: 5/10/2019

According to Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens, driver Derrick Miner's Ford transit van hydroplaned in the northbound lanes of I-77 just before noon Friday.

The van rolled on one side, landing on its wheels in the median, facing southbound.

Miner, who is from Morgantown, did not claim an injury, but went to the hospital to be checked out for injuries.

The driver of a van involved in a rollover crash on Interstate 77 late Friday morning was taken to a local hospital after the crash, authorities said.

The van went off the highway and overturned in the median about noon near milepost 180.

The driver's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.


Emergency crews are on the scene of a single-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 77 near the milemarker 180.

A Wood County 911 center dispatcher supervisor said the vehicle is in the median and that the highway is still open.

There’s no word yet on any injuries.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department and St. Joseph’s Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
