PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Last night’s storm caused thousands of people to lose power and damaged several people’s property.
The storm hit Elm Street in Parkersburg pretty badly, knocking down trees and powerlines. One tree fell in a family’s backyard, keeping them from leaving on their trip to the beach.
Another tree lost a large limb which crashed onto power lines and smashed into a neighbor’s driveway. Homeowner Steve Hendricks was home during the storm and is thankful that the tree landed in his driveway and not on his house.
“I heard a big crack and then a big thud and the limb from the tree across the street fell into our yard and driveway,” said Hendricks.
Hendricks wanted to thank the City of Parkersburg, as well as the power company for coming out to clean up so quickly.
