Damaged fiber cable blamed for CAS Cable outage

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Officials with CAS Cable are working to restore service to customers in several areas of Wood County.

A company spokesman said the outage affecting customers in north Parkersburg, Vienna and Williamstown began early Wednesday morning after a 300-strand fiber-optic cable was cut in two places when a utility pole on 7th Street in Parkersburg was damaged.

"Some of our customers are currently getting service restored," the spokesman said. "We are working diligently to get service restored to all of our customers."
