VIENNA, W.Va (WTAP) - The Jan Dils Golden Apple Award for the month of December
Jackson Middle School health teacher Tammy Fisher has been in the education system for 33 years and at Jackson Middle School for nine. She stands out for her positive attitude and open door policy to all students. Ms. Fisher regularly volunteers as a coach and says that she became a teacher after her teachers helped her through a difficult time.
“When I was a senior in high school at Parkersburg South, my father died of a massive heart attack age 40 and that was supposed to be the best year of our life and it was the worst year of my life so far, because you never know what can happen. But the teachers at Parkersburg South put their loving arms around me and got me through that year and I just wanted to give back so that’s why I’m a teacher,” she said.
