PARKERSBURG W.Va, (WTAP)- Dr. Richard Newhart is a periodontist who specializes in gum disease care and on Wednesday, he is offering free dental cleaning to anyone who is without dental insurance, over 21 years old, and has not been to the dentist in 2 years or longer.
The appointments will operate on a first come, first served basis, and he expects to see upwards of 70 patients come in for the event on Wednesday.
Dr. Newhart says he hopes to raise awareness about gum disease while also helping members of the community.
“A free teeth cleaning and cancer screening and we also check for cavities. We try to help people and point them in the direction where they can get extra help that they need. Either fillings at a reduced rate, or if they have really bad gum disease, which is what I specialize and treat in, we can send them off to maybe University where they can get that treatment done for no charge or for a significantly reduced fee,” explains Dr. Newhart.
The free teeth cleaning day will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday only.
Dr. Newhart’s office is located at 1308 Market Street in Parkersburg.
