Deputies: Spencer man killed in crash on Interstate 79

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Investigators have released the name of a man who died in a car crash in Kanawha County on Wednesday.

Steven Cooper, 60, of Spencer, was killed when his car went over a hillside on Interstate 79 in the Frame area.

Deputies said the he might have lost control of his car because of a pre-existing medical condition.

Cooper was driving north about 8:20 p.m. near mile-marker 11 when he went around a curve and crossed the median into the southbound lanes. Deputies said that's when his car then went over a hillside and crashed into a rock wall and ditch.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other vehicles were involved. Nobody else was injured.
