Early Marietta history highlighted in authors' speech

MARIETTA, Oh (WTAP)-- Spring-boarding off David McCullough's recent speech on the early history of the Northwest Territory, Marietta continues to celebrate its roots this week.

Two more renowned authors of local history spoke in Marietta Thursday evening.

American Flags and Poles hosted their two hour presentation a the First Congregational Church.

Author Steve Magnusen spoke on the Dawes family and their contribution to early Marietta history, and on his book, "TO MY BEST GIRL-HONOR, COURAGE AND LOVE IN THE CIVIL WAR".

Local author Pamela Brust also spoke about her research for her book, "THE HENDERSONS: ONE FAMILY'S LEGACY."

Both authors will hold a book signing at American Flags and Poles in downtown Marietta as part of the First Fridays events June 7th from 5 to 9 p.m.
