It's an annual event that focuses on planning a future for kids all across the mountain state.

This is the first time Education Alliance has made its way to Parkersburg.

The event was held at the Blennerhassett Hotel.

The Education Alliance is a non-profit organization that works to bring businesses and community support to public schools.

They travel all over the state, but today they focused on Wood County.

Some of the speakers today were Chad Crumbaker, Vice President of WVU Parkersburg and West Virginia Teacher of the Year, Toni Poling from Fairmont. Writer and advisor, Ralph Baxter also gave a speech.

The President of Education Alliance says, “First of all, our state is facing a real critical time in terms of our economy, and with every challenge there are also opportunities. So we can bring folks from business and education from the community all together to have dialogue and conversations. The better we are prepared to move forward. "
