Ex-Moundsville mayor sentenced on drug charge

WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - A former mayor of Moundsville has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison on a drug-distribution charge.

Kevin M. Simms, 63, of Moundsville, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Wheeling. He pleaded guilty in December to distributing oxycodone.

Simms was first elected to Moundsville City Council in 1990. He served as mayor from 1998 to 2000.
