1 killed, 2 injured in crash in Meigs County

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio (WTAP) -- UPDATE: 06/25/19

A Zanesville man was killed and two other people were injured in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on State Route 833 in Meigs County.

The Gallipolis post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a passenger in the 2003 Nissan Xterra, Fransisco De Leon, 20, died in the crash, which happened about 1:30 a.m. near milepost 1.

The driver, Camilo Casanova, 29, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and an unidentified passenger were taken by helicopter to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus with "incapacitating" injuries, the patrol said.

The patrol said Casanova lost control while driving south on Route 833. The SUV went off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.

None of the people in the vehicle was wearing safety belts, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.

One person was killed in a crash in Meigs County early Tuesday morning.

Meigs County dispatchers said the crash happened about 1:30 a.m. on State Route 833 near Dixon Road.

One car was involved in the crash. Dispatchers said it was a possible rollover accident.

One person died, but three people were in the car total. Other injuries are unknown at this time.
