PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Firefighters say no one was hurt in a fire that damaged three homes early Thursday morning on Williams Street in Parkersburg.

This fire damaged 3 homes on Williams Street in Parkersburg, on Feb. 28, 2019.

The Wood County 911 Center says the fire started just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 1000 block of Williams Street in Parkersburg.

Firefighters from all six Parkersburg fire stations responded to the blaze, which heavily damaged two homes and melted the siding on a third home.

No one was hurt.

Fire investigators say that home was vacant at the time of the fire and had been condemned by code enforcement, but people had been staying there anyway. Crews knocked down the house in fear that it would later collapse.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
