Family loses everything in fire; firefighters seek donations to help

Firefighters with the Rome Volunteer Fire Department are hoping the public can help a family back to their feet after a fire destroyed their home Saturday night.

The fire happened in the Village of Athalia and destroyed the mobile home.

Nobody was hurt in the fire but the department is now seeking donations from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. over the next several days in hopes of helping the family.

The department is located on County Road 107.

They says the following items are needed:

Men’s 36x34 Jeans and XL in Shirts
Women’s Size 10 Jeans and Medium Shirts
Girls 8 Pants/Shirts
Girls 5T

Shoe sizes:
Men’s 12
Women’s 7.5
Girls 1
Girls 11C



A Jackson County, West Virginia family says their home is a total loss after a fire Saturday afternoon.

Officials say the fire happened at the home off Autumn Drive.

The cause of the fire is unknown but family members say it started in the basement and quickly spread.

Nobody was injured in the fire but the home is a total loss.

Fire officials are still working to discover the cause of the fire.
