First Responders Awarded in Washington County

Recognizing first responders is a must and an honor. In Beverly, Washington County first responders were awarded in a big way.
Wednesday was the 32nd Washington County Public Service awards, sponsored by the Muskingum Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.
Six awards were given to Marietta Police and Fire, Belpre Fire, Washington County Sheriffs Office, Firefighters Association and EMS.
The recipients are chosen by chiefs and heads of departments for their outstanding work in the community.
"We're giving awards to the public servants who really put their lives and time on the line for the citizens of Washington County. The whole idea is this promulgates goodwill throughout Washington County and it lets these first responders know we appreciate them," says Washington County Commissioner, Rick Walters.
Many of the officials handing out the awards were awarded at one point in their life for their service as well.
