MARIETTA, Oh. (WTAP) - Flu season is in full swing across the country but what are we seeing here in the Mid-Ohio Valley?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ohio is seeing widespread influenza activity while West Virginia is seeing regional activity, the highest levels for both states so far this season.
Hospitalizations have increased for the flu and flu-like sickness since the beginning of the year according to the Washington County Health Department.
It is still recommended that you get a flu shot if you haven’t yet as it can still prevent the virus.
Along with getting the shot, there are other ways to help reduce your risk of getting sick or spreading the virus to others.
Flu season normally peaks during the months of January and February.
