Fortune telling ban is no more

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Tuesday night in Parkersburg city council made a decision many would not have predicted, fortune telling is now legal within city limits.

It was brought up during a meeting in June and the city said fortune telling was not in the cards for those wanting to practice.

Heather Cooper a business owner and practicing tarot card reader had opened a shop in the city, but it closed down after a couple of months.

She and her friends were there to witness the historical moment last night.

Cooper recalled the moment. " I figured it would be passed, but when they finally said it was passed we weren't really sure that it was passed. We figured there would be a lot more to it. So we were like what?"

Cooper said she plans on starting to practice again through local events and she hopes to re-open her business called, "Hawthorne" as soon as she can.
