MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Motorcycle riders and veterans are gearing up for one of the biggest rides of the summer.
The Freedom Ride is back for its second year Saturday July 13 to help support veterans.
Organized by the Washington County Veterans Service Commission,
over 250 riders came last year and raised over $5000 for Gold Star Park. This year, officials are expecting close to 300 riders.
"The fact that this event is going to grow year after year," executive director Robert Fitzgerald said. "You know it's my goal, I'd like to see it to be the largest veterans-focused event in Ohio, if you can believe that, those are my goals. But and I'd also like to see it year after year grow as a very large motorcycle event."
The county-long ride will end with a barbecue dinner at VFW Post 5108 in Marietta. Tickets for the ride are $15 or $20 with a passenger.
You can also pay for a breakfast in the morning before the ride.
