As of last report, plans for the Washington County Relay for Life at Belpre City Park had not been changed.
With the Wood County Relay for Life just two weeks away, a number of fundraising activities for the event are planned in the next few days.
Saturday, a pancake breakfast is planned from 8-10 A.M. at Applebee's in Vienna, followed by a giant yard sale at 1103 51st Street in Vienna, and a Charity Day event at Belk's Department Store in the Grand Central Mall.
Another fundraiser will be held next Tuesday evening, at the Parkersburg Wendy's restaurants.
Organizers of the annual relay say, while the American Cancer Society is not a fund-raising organization, money raised helps it provide important services for cancer patients.
"Whether it's a toll free hotline for people to call at anytime for their families" said relay co-chair John Chalfant, "or its a ride to cancer treatments or its just being able to talk to somebody that's going through the same thing, that's what the fundraising helps provide for the community"
The Wood County relay helps benefit the cancer society.
It begins Friday afternoon, May 17, at Parkersburg City Park, and continues until Saturday, May `18, with closing ceremonies at 10 A-M.
Chalfant says there's still time to organize a group to take part in the relay.
