Salvation Army angel tree toy drive begins

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The Parkersburg Salvation Army needs your help this Christmas.
They are collecting new toys for children in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

WTAP spent the day before Thanksgiving helping them with that mission. The Parkersburg Salvation Army is asking for your help with its Angel Tree Toy Drive.

Familiar faces from WTAP spent all day Wednesday helping them collect toys at WVU Medicine Camden Clark. The Salvation Army is giving toys to about 600 children this Christmas.

"There's just something about Christmas and kids. Everybody wants to get a new gift. Nobody wants anything that's used so we encourage people to bring new toys so that kids have new toys to have under the tree for Christmas morning," said Major Cathy Riley of the Parkersburg Salvation Army.

WTAP will be back at the hospital December 6, 2018, to help with the drive. The last day to donate is December 13, 2018.

WTAP will be at the Vienna Eye Clinic that day.
