VIENNA, W.Va.-(WTAP) More than $210,000-a record-is raised for the Boys and Girls Club of Parkersburg.

Golfers came out for the annual Kids Golf Classic tournament Monday at the Parkersburg Country Club.

It was the 23rd annual event, and its cost is underwritten by United Bank of Parkersburg.

Executive Director Ben Shuman says other fundraisers benefit the Boys and Girls Club. But this, by far, is the largest.

"We receive no state or federal grants," Shuman says. "Everything we do we do because of the generosity of people in our community. United Bank helps galvanize the community and support the kids we are serving every single day, and that's over 1,000 kids in a year."

The event has raised more than $3.1 million since it began in the late 1990's.

More than 130 golfers participated. It was sponsored by 146 local businesses.
