WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. (WTAP) - A Wood County grand jury has charged an Ohio man in an October 2017 robbery at the Williamstown Bank.

William E. Johnson, 54, of Lancaster, Ohio, faces charges of bank robbery and use or presentation of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He allegedly entered the bank branch on Highland Avenue about 10:30 on Oct. 31, Halloween Day, and demanded money.

Police said the suspect, who was wearing a mask to disguise himself as an elderly man, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

Williamstown Police said Wednesday that Johnson is currently incarcerated in Pickaway County, Ohio, where he's serving an 18-month sentence for attempted felonious assault stemming from an incident in Fairfield County, Ohio.

Police have not released details about how Johnson was linked to the robbery.
