Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Ohio Valley breaks ground on 108th home

VINCENT, Ohio (WTAP) - Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Ohio Valley held its groundbreaking for its 108th home.

The Dennis family is excited to begin the process.

The home has three sponsors. The home will be built in memory of Mickey Welch, who was a huge philanthropic donor in the area. Also, in the memory of Michael Shirey, through a fund at the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. The third sponsor is the Belpre Area Community Development Foundation that awarded a grant to Habitat.

"We've been fortunate to have some generous donors with this project," said Phillips, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Habitat is hoping to get the foundation done in the next month, so they will be able to work on the house during the winter.

Phillips is hoping to have the house completed by this spring.

If you are interested in applying to Habitat's homeownership program, the next application meeting is Tuesday, November 5th at 5 p.m. at the Habitat Learning Center, 700 16th Street, Vienna, WV.
