MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Residents at one local senior living home receive gifts thanks to some generous employees.
Employees at Harmar Place in Marietta have been setting aside money from their paychecks all year long to buy Christmas presents for senior residents.
Santa showed up Monday to help give staff give out the presents to the 80-plus seniors living at the facility.
Workers say Christmas is a time for families and the residents are a part of their family.
"We all look forward to it," resident Mary Lou Fruia said. "The staff is very good about remembering us at Christmas, making sure that we all get a present no matter what."
"Seeing the expression on the residents face when you give them something that puts a smile on their face," employee Tony Hitchcock said, "to me that is one of the best Christmas gifts I can receive."
Harmar Place has been carrying out this tradition for more than 20 years.
