PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Crowds will gather early Saturday morning to watch a half marathon. As exciting as a half marathon can be, there will be some traffic issues to look out for.
Police Chief Joe Martin tells us that there will be at least 53 intersections in and around Parkersburg manned by law enforcement or some form of emergency services.
At 6 a.m. Saturday, the US 50 eastbound Juliana street exit will be blocked off and the Belpre Bridge will be closed starting at 7:30 a.m.
Martin says the main street in downtown Parkersburg that will be closed is Market Street.
“All the other streets, be safe and careful and cautious from 8:00 in the morning until 11:30 tomorrow morning, until we can get the race runners safely through the course and to the finish line, hopefully,” said Chief Martin.
For people with places to be Saturday morning, Martin says to give yourself extra time.
